THE WORLD’S FIRST NFT CHESS TOUR TROPHY

The world’s first NFT chess tour trophy will be presented at the 2021 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour Finals.

An entire new platform, Chess Champs (chesschamps.io), is launching at the Finals of the 2021 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour to celebrate the beauty of chess through a series of NFT collectibles. Created by Play Magnus Group (founded by World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen) and MUST Group (a Copenhagen-based company specializing in blockchain technology and NFTs), Chess Champs introduces a whole new way for chess enthusiasts to engage with the game they love. As of today, you can start collecting Chess Champs moments and place your bid on the Champions Trophy NFT to win the right to own a unique 1 of 2 NFTs – one will be the official Tour trophy for the grandmaster who defeats them all, while the other is put on auction.

Chess lore is about the big games, about the grandmaster head-to-heads, often drenched in superpower world politics and always packed with killer moves, incredible sacrifices, amazing combinations and critical captures – great moments that deserve to be remembered, immortalized and watched over and over.

The Tour is filled with such moments. It enlists the greatest players, it has the greatest prizes, and the Grandmasters themselves are commenting, creating an engaging and exciting experience for the greatest viewership of any chess tournament.

The Tour Finals 2021, held from Sep 25 to Oct 4, will see the launch of Chess Champs (chesschamps.io) – the official NFT collectibles series of the Tour 2021, developed to harness the beauty of chess and, with the use of blockchain technology, preserve it’s most defining moments for infinity allowing fans to collect, share and trade them.

The principal piece of the series is the opportunity of one fan to share the victory with the winner of the Tour; the Champions Trophy is an NFT in two editions: One for the winner and one – signed by the winner – to be won in the Champions Trophy Auction, beginning today and ending on October 4, the last day of the Tour Finals. In addition, the collection entails a number of NFT series, each representing a chess piece. Besides being collectibles they are also part of a game that will unfold as the Chess Champs universe continues to grow.

The collectibles are created by a team of chess connoisseurs, graphic designers and 3D artists turning the most brilliant and exciting highlights of the tour into beautifully designed 3D animations.

ABOUT NFTS

What is an NFT? A short answer is that NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are unique cryptographic tokens for blockchain platforms. They can be used to verify ownership of digital assets, such as videos, music or images. Most other crypto tokens are used for currency. NFTs are not. That’s the non-fungible part. Every NFT is unique and traceable. This makes them a fantastic tool to collect, trade and sell both physical and digital experiences online.
