THE CYCLING RACE THE LE TOUR REVENGE IS POSTPONED TO 2021

In 2019, Struer City and f Sports Group completed the cycle street race the Le Tour Revenge with the participation of several Danish Tour riders.

This year, the race was scheduled to take place on Tuesday 4th August 2020 in Struer, the City of Sound and the organisers had confirmed a number of the Danish riders again. Some of Denmark’s most prominent riders and stars like Astana rider Jakob Fuglsang, the Trek-Segafredo rider, the world champion in road cycling 2019 Mads Pedersen and NTT Pro Cycling rider Michael Valgren.

Fuglsang had a terrific season in 2019 and has several times mentioned it as the best season of his career. In that season he won, among other accolades, the race Liége-Bastogne-Liége and the 16th stage of the Vuelta a España. The start of 2020 could not have been better for Fuglsang, as he added another fantastic title to his otherwise impressive CV, namely the winner of the Vuelta a Andalucia.

Pedersen won the 2019 World Championship in road cycling and wrote himself into Danish cycling history, becoming the first Dane ever to win this prestigious World Championship title.

Valgren also finished his 2019 season fantastically. He ended fourth in the Brittany Classic Quest – France, sixth in the World Road Cycling Championships and Chrono Des Nations.

Scheduled date and backup date not possible

Unfortunately, it will not be possible to complete the Le Tour Revenge this year because of the restrictions issued due to the Corona pandemic, which is currently valid until and including August.

The organising group had a back-up date of 11th September 2020. This opportunity also fell away when the world’s largest cycling race, the Tour de France, announced that it was rescheduled for 29 August – 20 September. This means that the Le Tour Revenge in Struer was not able to take place on the back-up date, as many of the riders participate in the Tour de France.

Hopefully a reunion will happen in 2021

We received many positive reactions after the race in 2019 from the audience, local cycling clubs, sponsors, and the press. Based on that, we wanted to repeat the race in 2020. Struer City and f Sports Group are working on organising a the Le Tour Revenge in 2021.
