HOLGER RUNE PLAYS NICK KYRGIOS IN ROYAL ARENA
Denmark’s new tennis star Holger Rune plays the phenomenon Nick Kyrgios in Royal Arena.
The scene is set for an unforgettable evening Wednesday 24th May 2023 in Royal Arena in Copenhagen, when Energi Danmark Champions Battle 2023 takes place. This will be the first time ever Holger Rune and Nick Kyrgios play each other.
Most tennis fans both Danish and international got to know the name Holger Rune in 2022. Especially during the last six months the 19 year old Dane made a name of himself on the international scene.
This year he has won nothing less than three ATP titles. The first being the BMW Open in Munich in April, then in October he beat the world’s No. four Stefanos Tsitsipas at Stockholm Open. His career’s greatest victory came earlier this month when he in a nerve breaking match won against the tennis legend Novak Djokovic at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament Rolex Paris Masters.
The young tennis comet has jumped the world rankings; since April he has gone from being no. 45 to end the 2022 season impressively as no.11 – his goal for the season was reaching Top 25.
Now all Danish tennis fans have the unique opportunity to see the international star on Danish soil.
It’s a very strong opponent Holger Rune is meeting in Royal Arena in May next year. Australian Nick Kyrgios, former world’s No.13, has during his career won nothing less than seven ATP titles and reached the final 11 times, including this year’s Wimbledon final. He is only the third tennis player ever to beat the three legends Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal the first time he played them.
Holger Rune is looking forward to meeting Nick Kyrgios, he says:

Also the Australian Nick Kyrgios is looking forward to meet the young Dane.
“I have of course heard a lot about Holger Rune, he has had a fantastic 2022 season thus very exciting to be playing him in Denmark and then for the first time. I’ve beaten the three legends the first time I met them so let’s see how it goes against Holger.” Kyrgios smiles.
